About the Firm
About Vertex Public Adjusting
Vertex Public Adjusting is a licensed Georgia firm that works for policyholders — never the insurance company — on property insurance claims in Athens and the surrounding area. People usually find us at a frustrating point: a claim that's been denied, a check that came in lower than the damage warrants, or a loss complicated enough that it's hard to know what a fair outcome even looks like. Our job is to bring order and advocacy to that process.
What a public adjuster actually does
A public adjuster is a licensed insurance professional who represents the policyholder on a claim — not the insurance company. The adjuster the carrier sends and the public adjuster the policyholder hires work the same claim from opposite sides of it. That single difference shapes the whole process.
Day-to-day, the work is fairly unglamorous: reading the policy carefully — coverages, exclusions, endorsements, deductibles — and building a clean, complete record of the damage. Photos, measurements, scope, contractor and mitigation documents. From there, we identify where the claim is incomplete or where the carrier's position doesn't square with what the property actually shows, and we handle the communication with the carrier on the policyholder's behalf.
No honest adjuster promises a specific outcome — every policy and every loss is different. What we can do is make sure the claim is documented thoroughly, the policy is read closely, and someone is asking the right questions on the policyholder's behalf. Nothing is binding along the way: representation only begins after a written agreement is signed.
Who we work with
Most of the people we help are homeowners dealing with an unexpected loss for the first time. We also work with landlords and other property owners, with commercial and small-business owners whose claims involve more than just the building, and with contractors and restoration professionals who run into claim problems in the middle of a repair and want a licensed advocate involved.
Claims we commonly assist with
Property losses rarely fit neatly into one box, but most of our work falls into a handful of areas. Each has its own page if you'd like to read more.
Water damage
Sudden plumbing failures, appliance leaks, and the flooring, drywall, and cabinetry that get ruined when water spreads. water damage claim help.
Roof damage
Wind- and hail-related roof loss, where the disagreement is often about repair versus replacement and what counts as functional damage. roof damage claim help.
Fire & smoke damage
Structure, contents, and the smoke and soot that travel well beyond the room where a fire started. fire damage claim help.
Storm damage
Severe weather losses across the home and property, including water that's driven in through storm-opened gaps. storm damage claim help.
Denied claims
A second read of the denial letter, the policy language, and the carrier's stated reasoning when a claim has been turned down. denied insurance claim help.
Underpaid claims
A close look at the estimate and scope when a payment arrives but doesn't cover what the repair actually takes. underpaid insurance claim help.
Commercial property
Business losses where lost income and operating expenses matter as much as the building itself. commercial property claim support.
Based in Athens
Vertex is a Georgia-only firm based in Athens. Most of our claims sit inside an hour of Clarke County — Athens itself, Oconee, Barrow, and Walton — and out into the surrounding Northeast Georgia communities. We don't take claims out of state, and we don't take claims outside Georgia: this is a state-licensed practice, and that boundary is on purpose.

Public adjusting is a regulated profession in Georgia, and for good reason — you're trusting someone to represent you on a claim that may be worth a great deal to your household or business. Anyone you bring in to represent you on a claim should hold a current public adjuster license in the state.
It's a fair question to ask, and we'd rather you ask it. If you're weighing your options, confirm that whoever you're talking to is properly licensed before you sign anything.
A quick clarification
